Vani Vilasa Sagara, this heavenly place popularly known as Mari Kanive, is about 219km from Mysuru and 181km from Bengaluru. 60km from Chitradurga district. It is the oldest dam in Karnataka state, built by the Mysore Maharajahs pre-independence across the river Vedavathi. The speciality of this Dam is that it looks like India Map from the top of the Guest house. The dam gets its name from the youngest daughter of the Mysore royal family, Vani Vilasa. There is a temple at the end of the dam. The view of the dam from the top of hill is beautiful. Perfect place for photography. One can walk and spend all day gazing at the beautiful nature all around. The road to Vani Vilasa Sagara is good. Overall this hidden gem is a must visit place for picnic and to spend quality time with family and friends
