Ancient Shri Brahmeswara Temple is about 70km from Mysuru and 165km from Bengaluru. Located in Kikkeri town is the 12th century Hoysala architecture temple.The interior of this temple is widened beyond its base by making the outer walls bulge out in a convex shape. It is a single shrine (ekakuta) construction, where a 4 feet tall idol of Lord Vishnu is installed. The pillars of the temple are carved with figures of Madanika. The temple is dedicated to Lord Eshwara and the presence of Brahma on the doorway leads to the naming of the diety as Brahmeshwara.
