Tunga Bridge is the one of the oldest bridges constructed across the Tunga River.This bridge is over 100 years old and it was designed by, and built under supervision of, Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The bridge connects the area Kuruvalli with Thirthahalli. Tunga Bridge is also called Jayachamarajendra Bridge. It is believed by the localities that Lord Parashurama tried to wash his axe off the blood stain that were left on his axe after killing his mother by dipping it in various river, but he was unable to remove the stain. Legend has it that he could wash the stain off by washing the axe in the Tunga river. Therefore people believe that taking a dip in the holy river removes all the past sins .The Tunga Bridge draws many visitors, especially on weekends to see the uniqueness of the bridge
