Shri Kshetra Kanakagiri (Ancient Jain Temple) also called as Maleyuru Betta is about 58Km from Mysuru and 183Km from Bengaluru. Situated in Chamaraja Nagar District, Shri Kshetra Kanakagiri is one of the ancient Jain religion pilgrimage centre and the only siddakshetra in South India with 24 thirthankar kutha present and is about 1000 years old temple. The shrine is situated atop a hillock having distant view of the nature all around. The hill also has a small water pond in a rocky bowl and water is present through out the year. The surrounding hills have many caves which were used by mendicants for meditation and prayer. The inscriptions, engravings of footprints, samadhi mantapas and nishadi caves throw much light on the heritage of the place. The road to Shri Kshetra Kanakagiri is very nice with tress covered on both the sides which will lead all the way to the top. Also steps are available to walk till the top.Overall a very peaceful place with lot of wind blowing at the top, calm atmosphere for peaceful mind.Plain green pastures makes it a scenic treat for visitors
